Milestone achievement for 6G-PATH Use Case EDU2: Classroom of the Future

The 6G-PATH consortium is pleased to announce the successful delivery of a major milestone for Use Case EDU2: Classroom of the Future. This achievement marks an important step toward demonstrating how next-generation connectivity and immersive technologies can transform digital education across Europe.

This week, partners conducted a highly engaging series of trials in Scotland, showcasing advanced remote holographic 3D rendering capabilities provided by the Aston CyberHub 6G Experimental Facility. These capabilities enabled the delivery of immersive teaching experiences to students at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

More than 30 undergraduate students and numerous teaching staff participated in the trials, offering valuable insights into how XR-enhanced learning environments can enrich higher education. Their enthusiastic engagement highlighted the potential of 6G-enabled tools to support more interactive, inclusive, and effective teaching practices.

This milestone reflects strong collaboration across the University of the West of Scotland,  Aston University and University of Leicester partners involved in the project.

Building on this success, the 6G-PATH consortium will now extend similar trial activities to additional universities across the UK. These efforts aim to broaden the national and European impact of the project and further validate the unique capabilities underpinning the Classroom of the Future vision.

As 6G technologies advance, so too does the promise of more immersive, connected, and innovative learning environments. The results of these trials show that the future of digital education is rapidly taking shape, and 6G-PATH is proud to be driving this transformation.
