6G-PATH UC-FARM1 Wins Santander X Award and Showcases 5G-Powered Smart Farming at International Congress
The 6G-PATH project is proud to highlight two recent achievements by UC-FARM1, one of the key use cases hosted at the Experimental Farm La Mayora, operated by the Institute for Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture (IHSM-CSIC-UMA).
UC-FARM1 was awarded the prestigious Santander X Innovative Project Entrepreneur Award for its prototype “Irrigatech”, a cutting-edge system that leverages 5G connectivity to optimise irrigation processes in agriculture. The award recognises the project’s innovative use of real-time data and connectivity to address efficiency and sustainability in farming.

In parallel, Cristina Ferrer, a member of the UC-FARM1 team, presented the project’s preliminary findings at the XIX Spanish-Portuguese Congress of Plant Biology, held from 1–4 July 2025. Her oral presentation, titled “HLOEM Conductance and Real-Time Irrigation Optimization in Avocado Using 5G Technology,” showcased the scientific foundations and early outcomes of the 6G-PATH trial.
