6G-PATH at the 27th InfoCom World 2025: Driving AI & 6G innovation across Europe

On 26 November 2025, the 6G-PATH project proudly participated in the 27th InfoCom World Conference & Expo in Athens, Greece, the leading ICT event in Greece and Southeastern Europe. This year’s edition, dedicated to “AI-Volution – A Brave New World”, gathered ICT experts, decision-makers, and industry representatives from multiple sectors, providing a unique platform to discuss the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Beyond 5G / 6G (B5G/6G) technologies.

Scientific & Business Workshop: “Facing AI Challenges and Opportunities in Beyond 5G / 6G Era”

Within the conference, the OTE Group of Companies (HTO), as 6G-PATH project coordinator, organized a Scientific & Business-oriented Workshop titled “Facing AI Challenges and Opportunities in Beyond 5G / 6G Era: New Perspectives in the European R&D”.

The Workshop aimed to present ongoing European research activities that explore the challenges and opportunities of B5G/6G and AI technologies, promoting digital transformation, sectoral innovation, and market adoption across multiple verticals. Discussions focused on how AI, IoT, cloud, and other modern technologies are reshaping infrastructure, services, and operational processes in a fully converged digital environment.

Workshop highlights
  • 11 thematic sessions
  • 52 presentations covering multiple EU-funded projects
  • 18 EU-funded projects represented, including: ECSTATIC, SUNRISE-6G, FLECON-6G, DATAMITE, 6G-BRICKS, AMBITIOUS, CyberNEMO, 6G-PATH, and 6G-DALI
  • Strong cross-project collaboration on AI, data management, trials, and cybersecurity

The Workshop offered a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange among European research initiatives, facilitating discussions on the adoption of innovative features, validation of use cases, and identification of new growth opportunities in multiple sectors.

6G-PATH dedicated session

6G-PATH had a dedicated session, coordinated by OTE with support from ACTA Ltd., highlighting key use cases developed within the project. The session featured five presentations:

  1. Introducing the 6G-PATH Vision & Scope – Dr. Ioannis Chochliouros (OTE)
  2. Automated Logistics in the B5G/6G Era & the Role of AGVs – Dr. Ioannis Chochliouros (OTE)
  3. B5G Network Implementation for Automated Logistics – Christina Lessi (OTE)
  4. Beyond 5G in Warehouse Logistics & Network Validation Platform – Panayiotis Thomas Verrios (ACTA Ltd.)
  5. Smart Water Saving for Modern Agriculture in B5G/6G Framework – Dr. Ioannis Chochliouros (OTE)

The session attracted approximately 120 participants, providing a forum for interactive discussions on AI-driven applications, network deployment strategies, and infrastructure validation in real-world environments.

6G-PATH interactive booth

In addition to the dedicated session, 6G-PATH organized an interactive booth where over 350 visitors explored project demonstrations, video materials, and detailed information about ongoing use cases. This allowed attendees to gain a hands-on understanding of 6G-PATH innovations and their practical applications in smart cities, logistics, and modern agriculture.

Cross-project collaboration

The Workshop also facilitated cross-project interactions, allowing 6G-PATH to exchange experiences with other EU-funded initiatives. Discussions included:

  • AI-related challenges with FLECON-6G and 6G-DALI
  • Effective trial design with 6G-BRICKS and SUNRISE-6G
  • Use case impact evaluation with AMBITIOUS
  • Data handling and management strategies with DATAMITE
  • Cybersecurity implications with CyberNEMO, CyberSecDome, and SecAwarenessTruss

These exchanges further strengthened the role of 6G-PATH as a catalyst for innovation in the European R&D ecosystem.
