Enhancing healthcare remote education with 6G and XR technologies: 6G-PATH research presented at 6GNet 2024
On 23 October 2024, 6G-PATH project partner Karlstad University presented their latest research at the at the 3rd Edition of the International Conference on 6G Networking (6GNet 2024). The paper, titled Enhancing Healthcare Remote Education with 6G and XR Technologies, explores how 6G can transform the education landscape, particularly in the healthcare sector.
As remote education continues to evolve, innovative technologies play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience. Unlike current solutions in the education vertical that utilize immersive technologies such as Augmented/Virtual/Extended Reality (AR/VR/XR), which often rely on pre-recorded content and lack engagement, 6G can facilitate real-time interactions. This capability enables enriched AR/VR/XR interactions among students and instructors, enhancing the educational experience.
The paper discusses ongoing activities within the 6G-PATH EU project aimed at designing, implementing, and testing a 6G use case specifically for the remote education and training of healthcare personnel. The goal is to foster real-time, AR/VR/XR-enhanced interactions that significantly improve the learning experience for healthcare students.
