6G-PATH Use Case on Smart Irrigation Presented at Mediterranean and Subtropical Fruit Congress
The 6G-PATH project was represented at the Mediterranean and Subtropical Fruit Congress, held from 25 to 27 June 2024 in Tenerife, Spain, where a key project use case was showcased by partner CSIC (Spanish National Research Council). The event was organized by the Spanish Society for Horticultural Science (SECH) and focused on climate change, sustainability, and digitalization in Mediterranean and subtropical fruit production.
CSIC, with contributions from project partner UMA (University of Málaga), delivered a presentation titled “5G Technology for Automatic Irrigation Control in Avocado and Mango.” This presentation highlighted one of the core use cases of the 6G-PATH project, demonstrating how 5G connectivity can be applied to support real-time, precision irrigation in agriculture, improving water efficiency, crop management, and environmental sustainability.
A short video from the presentation is available here (in Spanish), offering a look at how cutting-edge connectivity is being deployed in real agricultural settings.
The session sparked valuable discussions about the role of next-generation connectivity technologies in building climate-resilient, digitally enhanced agriculture, a key priority within the 6G-PATH mission.
