Post-Quantum Secure 6G Healthcare Enabled Sensing Network for Assisted Living

Assisted living and remote healthcare support for vulnerable or ageing populations using sensing and connectivity solutions

The PQ-HEAL project (Post-Quantum Secure 6G Healthcare Enabled Sensing Network for Assisted Living) aims to address the pressing need for secure, reliable, and advanced healthcare solutions for vulnerable and aging populations. Assisted living and remote patient support face two interlinked challenges: protecting sensitive data and ensuring dependable network performance. Existing communication infrastructures and cryptographic methods are increasingly inadequate, particularly under the looming risk posed by quantum computing to current encryption standards. At the same time, demographic shifts and the growing demand for independent living amplify the need for resilient, low-latency healthcare networks. PQ-HEAL is positioned at this intersection, aiming to secure health data while enabling seamless real-time connectivity for assisted living applications.

The project’s main objective is to design, develop, and validate a 6G-enabled sensing network with integrated post-quantum cryptography, ensuring long-term data protection and robust service delivery. It seeks to demonstrate the feasibility of a secure, low-latency infrastructure that can support critical functions such as continuous health monitoring and emergency response. Validation in a real-world testbed will serve to prove the system’s reliability in handling the sensitive and complex data flows inherent to assisted living environments.
