HAMoQ

High Availability Media over QUIC

HAMoQ delivers high-availability, low-latency immersive telepresence over Media over QUIC

The HAMoQ project (pronounced as hammock) is an initiative focused on improving real-time collaboration using an emerging, scalable, general content distribution protocol called Media over QUIC (MoQ). The goal is to create a reliable and efficient telepresence application where people can work together on projects and have group discussions, even when they are in different locations.

A key part of our work is to provide low-overhead, application-layer resiliency on top of MoQ so that connectivity remains stable even with temporary network problems or server failures. We plan to combine this resilient MoQ framework with our MoQ-based immersive telepresence application transmitting volumetric video with our resilient MoQ. Additionally, relying on the L4S technology we will also keep the end-to-end latency low helping to ensure the experience feels real-time. Finally, relying on 6G-PATH’s Experiment Lifecycle Manager, we will set up a system to monitor the technical performance and collect traces that allows us to conduct a post-trial survey to see how our work directly improves the quality of a collaborative session.
