6G-PATH at NATO VIP Day in Aveiro
On October 9th, 2025, the 6G-PATH Project participated in the NATO VIP Day event in Aveiro, marking a significant milestone in the development of next-generation connectivity solutions. The event featured an exciting pilot for UC-CITIES-3, a use case within the 6G-PATH Project, demonstrating the potential of 5G and beyond for urban applications.
The demonstration showcased a mobile 5G station mounted on a UAV, with a private 5G network provided through the ZLT-Aveiro Free Technological Zone, enabling seamless connectivity to multiple mobile devices. These devices were running a command-and-control MCX application developed by Airbus Defence and Space, highlighting the integration of cutting-edge technology for enhanced communication in critical scenarios.
During the event, live demonstrations were conducted, and interviews with participants provided valuable Key Validation Insights (KVIs) for further refining the UC-CITIES-3 use case. This demonstration reflects the ongoing collaboration between Instituto de Telecomunicações, Altice Labs, and Airbus Defence and Space within the 6G-PATH framework, working together to shape the future of mobile connectivity.
The event was a great success, demonstrating the potential of private 5G networks and UAV-mounted solutions for critical urban and defence applications. 6G-PATH continues to push the boundaries of connectivity, ensuring that future technologies meet the growing needs of the digital ecosystem.
A special thank you to all partners and local stakeholders for their continued support and contribution to this milestone.
