6G-PATH Showcases Smart City Innovation at Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2026
At the Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2026, 6G-PATH partners IT and ALB demonstrated the UC-CITIES-1 use case, highlighting how next-generation network technologies can support smarter, faster, and more resilient urban environments.
Over the course of three days, visitors explored how Edge Offloading and Network Digital Twins can transform city-scale connectivity and services. The demonstration illustrated key benefits, including reduced latency by bringing computation closer to end users, improved network performance for large-scale urban applications, real-time monitoring and simulation of network conditions, and enhanced efficiency and resilience of urban infrastructure.
The stand attracted a diverse audience, including municipal authorities, researchers, industry stakeholders, and citizens, who engaged directly with the technologies and provided valuable feedback. This interaction helped the consortium better understand both the technical performance and the societal value of the solutions being developed.
The demonstration reinforced the potential of 6G-enabled technologies to support the evolution of connected cities and more sustainable urban ecosystems.
