6G-PATH research presented at BIOSTEC Conference 2026

Research from the 6G-PATH project was presented at the BIOSTEC Conference, taking place from 2–4 March in Marbella, Spain.

On 2 March 2026, Fraunhofer FOKUS, represented by Dr Andreea Ancuta Corici, presented the paper “Chronic Wound Assessment Solution with Secure Communication and Explainability as Key Enablers”. The work was developed in collaboration with the Geriatric Research Group from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, which is also a partner in the 6G-PATH project.

The research explores how secure communication technologies and explainable artificial intelligence can support innovative healthcare applications, particularly in the area of chronic wound monitoring and assessment. These capabilities are essential for enabling reliable and trustworthy digital health solutions within next-generation network infrastructures.

BIOSTEC brings together researchers and practitioners working in biomedical engineering and health informatics. With several conferences collocated under the BIOSTEC umbrella, the event provided valuable opportunities to raise awareness of the 6G-PATH project and foster new collaborations within the research and innovation community.

Participation in events such as BIOSTEC contributes to the project’s mission under the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU), which aims to advance next-generation network technologies and explore their potential to transform sectors such as healthcare.
