6G-PATH open event highlights water-saving innovations in agriculture

On 8 May 2025, the 6G-PATH project held an open event at the Instituto de Hortofruticultura Subtropical y Mediterránea “La Mayora” (IHSM La Mayora) in Algarrobo-Costa, Málaga, Spain. The institute, jointly operated by 6G-PATH partners CSIC and the University of Málaga (UMA), hosted around 30 participants for a hands-on demonstration of Use Case FARM-1: Water Saving.

The event showcased the digitalisation of subtropical fruit crop management, emphasizing the role of 5G/6G connectivity in enabling real-time processing of plant physiological data. Attendees witnessed how terrestrial and aerial vehicles can be remotely operated to capture images, with data analyzed through AI-driven algorithms. These innovations aim to enhance decision-making and promote more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.

This open event served as a valuable opportunity to highlight how advanced communication technologies can address real-world challenges in agriculture, particularly in the context of water conservation.
