UC-CITIES-1 trial showcases connected and sensing city scenarios at Aveiro Testbed
On 25 July 2025, 6G-PATH partners Instituto de Telecomunicações and Altice Labs conducted a successful Beyond-5G trial at the Aveiro Testbed, under the UC-CITIES-1 use case, Connected and Sensing City.
The trial demonstrated two advanced scenarios that push the boundaries of urban connectivity and intelligence:
Perception offloading with resource management for autonomous mobility, enabling seamless service mobility across edge nodes as autonomous vehicles move through the city.
Digital Twin and 5G Network Emulation, supporting real-time mirroring and analysis of urban environments.
A diverse group of stakeholders joined the demonstration, reflecting the collaborative ecosystem fostered by the project:
Allbesmart, Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, OneSource, TICE.PT, Universidade Portucalense (UPT), PCI Creative Science Park Aveiro Region, and Inova-Ria.
This trial represents a key step forward in the 6G-PATH mission to develop and validate next-generation network capabilities for smart city applications.
