Second Large Trial for XR in Rural Education: Teacher Training at “Nicolae Russu” School, Sita Buzăului, Romania

On June 16, 2025, the 6G-PATH project conducted its second major trial under the EDU-1 use case at “Nicolae Russu” School in Sita Buzăului, Romania. The initiative introduced Extended Reality (XR) technologies to rural classrooms through a full-day training for 17 educators and school administrators, delivered by two members of the OROF team.

Training Highlights

The session focused on:

  • XR Concepts & Classroom Integration: Teachers explored applications of VR, AR, and MR in education.

  • Hands-On Use of ClassVR: Educators practiced setting up headsets, connecting devices via QR codes, and troubleshooting.

  • Lesson Planning: Participants built curriculum-aligned lesson playlists using the ClassVR portal.

  • Classroom Management & Safety: Tools for real-time monitoring, session control, and safe headset use were introduced.

Outcomes

Teachers gained confidence in using XR technology independently, developing sample lessons in biology and geography. They identified strong potential for immersive learning to enhance engagement and curriculum delivery.

Next Steps

Beginning in September 2025, trained teachers will start using XR tools with students, marking the next phase of the EDU-1 use case to assess the scalability of XR deployment across rural Romanian schools using B5G/6G connectivity.
