6G-PATH at IEEE CCNC 2026: Intelligent cloud-native scheduling for future 6G systems
From 9 to 12 January 2026, the 6G-PATH project participated in the IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC) 2026, held in Las Vegas, NV, USA. During the conference, 6G-PATH contributed to the technical program with the presentation of a research paper and a demo paper, showcasing recent results from the OneSource work on intelligent, context-aware cloud-native resource scheduling for future 6G infrastructures.
The research paper, titled “Resource-and-Latency-Aware PSO (RALA-PSO): A Novel Algorithm for Intelligent and Contextual Cloud-Native Resource Scheduling,” introduces a resource- and latency-aware Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm designed to address key challenges in cloud-native and distributed environments. The solution enables intelligent scheduling of cloud-native applications while jointly optimizing resource utilization and end-to-end latency, aligning with the stringent requirements of future 6G services. The paper presentation session was attended by approximately 20 participants, generating valuable technical discussions.
In addition, a demo paper titled “RALA-PSO: Intelligent Scheduling of Cloud-Native Applications” was presented, accompanied by a live demonstration. The demo showcased the practical applicability of the proposed scheduling approach in a cloud-native setup, highlighting its ability to dynamically adapt to changing resource availability and latency constraints. The demonstration attracted strong interest, with around 30 attendees engaging directly with the platform and discussing its relevance for 6G-ready cloud–edge infrastructures.
These contributions highlight the role of AI-enabled orchestration and intelligent resource management as key enablers for future 6G systems. Within 6G-PATH, the OneSource framework focuses on enabling efficient, scalable, and context-aware management of distributed cloud–edge–continuum infrastructures. The positive feedback received at CCNC 2026 confirms the relevance of this research direction and supports continued development and validation within the project.
