The 6G-PATH project was featured at the recent ETSI SNS4SNS (Software & Standards for Smart Networks and Services) event, held from 2-5 February 2026 in Sophia Antipolis, France, where Telefónica, in collaboration with the OpenCAPIF ETSI Specialist Task Force (SDG), delivered a live demonstration of CAPIF (Common API Framework) capabilities.

The session showcased how standardized APIs are moving beyond specifications into real-world adoption by research and innovation projects working towards future smart networks and services.

CAPIF in practice

The hands-on demonstration illustrated how CAPIF-compliant API invokers and providers can be rapidly created using the OpenCAPIF SDK and pre-built templates. Participants were guided through the full end-to-end workflow, including:

• Onboarding of API invokers and providers
• Publishing and discovering APIs
• Applying 3GPP-compliant CAPIF procedures
• Integrating network and application services into an OpenCAPIF ecosystem

By walking through concrete implementation steps, the session highlighted how CAPIF lowers the barrier to exposing and consuming network APIs in a secure, interoperable, and standardized way.

CAPIF adoption across SNS projects

A key message of the session was the growing adoption of CAPIF within SNS and Horizon Europe projects, demonstrating its relevance and practical impact across the European 6G research landscape.

Strengthening collaboration towards 6G

The ETSI SNS4SNS event brought together representatives from standards bodies, open-source communities, industry, and research projects to exchange practical experiences on software, standards, and implementation aspects for future smart networks and services. Through live demonstrations and technical discussions, the event highlighted how collaboration across these communities accelerates the transition from specifications to deployable solutions.

For 6G-PATH, being referenced in this context reflects the project’s engagement with collaborative initiatives that adopt and validate standardized frameworks such as CAPIF, contributing to interoperable and innovation-friendly 6G ecosystems.
